When we were young, they never taught us
about what a healthy relationship with ourselves and with
others meant. It just wasn’t and still isn’t a part of the
curriculum. You never see a University focused on people who
want to learn about marriage. The only model that was
available to learn from was that of our parents. A lot of us
grow up saying we will never be like our parents, or do what
they did. We confidently affirm that we will have a better
family and be more loving, respectful and engaging to each
other. It’s not long until we realize that the dynamics we
so adamantly rejected from our parents, were starting to
appear in our own family lives. The same mistakes are being
made and our children start developing our former dream to
do and be better.
Education is paramount in any aspect of our life and
extremely important before starting our company called
marriage. Similar to when developing and nurturing a
business, one needs to be fully equipped with skills,
knowledge, the right attitude and full commitment to become
successful. Continuous growth is ascertained by your
endurance, determination, passion and experience. The
predominant reason for business ventures failing is people’s
naivety. You start a business driven by the excitement of
making money but with little knowledge of what it’s all
about. Many marriages fail for the same reason.
Avoid rushing into the business of marriage because of the
excitement your intense feelings for your partner bring you.
Without the right preparation and knowledge, fast forwarding
may cost you dearly in the long run.
